Thank you Mel for a great food experience in Auburn. Not only was the food memorable and the shopping excellent but the tour companions were also very much appreciated. i think most of us were not intending to shop but we did shop so my roller bag was most useful especially on my train journey home. i am going to return to Auburn with a couple of friends, taking the same route and introducing them to the foods I loved. A highly recommended activity! Thank you everyone for a great day out.

WOW, what a marvellous food walking tour of Auburn visiting so many fascinating places, visiting a Turkish coffee house, tasting Kazandibi with Siitlag. Then onto the local shops with Turkish breads, grocery stores brimming with lots of goodies, tasting Lahmacun a type of lamb spicy pizza, an excellent Turkish lunch followed by yummy pistachio baklava and Turkish Delight. Many of the owners showed us how they made their produce and gave us tastings. Mel is amazing, very knowledgable and she gives so much information whilst on tour, a most enjoyable day.

Mel's knowledge and sense of fun is great. It felt like we had gone on a trip - it was well organised from the first iced coffee, lots of food and cultural experiences - action packed. Great idea for team building and bonding. Highly recommend mia cucina food experience tours

The story of Henry really touched us and gave us an insight and appreciation of what a lot of the locals went through to get to Australia. Loved the freshness and variety of fruit and vegetables, tasted my first mangosteen and loved the quail we were served for lunch. The shopkeepers were warm and welcoming and we were happy to support them. Thank u Mel for a great day out, look forward to joining u again.

Melissa was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. She made the Italian tour around Ramsay St,Haberfield most enjoyable and informative. It was a worthwhile experience and would gladly recommend it!
Makes a great present!

We have been to restaurants in Haberfield on a number of occasions in the past however I never knew so much great food and ingredients was available the area.

Mel was great friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed. It was fabulous way to spend Saturday, we learned a lot and the other people in the group were great fun.

I think we may have overdone it in the cheese shop however...we have been eating cheese all week!

Thanks again Mel, it was a lovely day.

Loved exploring with Mel the fabulous authentic Italian grocers, butchers and providers in Haberfield. The tastings we're superb and great cooking tips wherever we went was a bonus! Such a great way to learn another layer of Sydney! Thanks Mel x

Our visit to Cabramatta was the first food tour we have done in Australia, and it was an outstanding success. Sure we had samples of some excellent Vietnamese food but the highlight for me was the exposure in a number of stores to the range of both fresh and preserved ingredients. Mel's expertise as a cook greatly added to the interest and value of those visits and we will be looking forward to further tours when next in Sydney.

From start to finish, our walking tour of Cabramatta was an eye opening experience! We started with Vietnamese coffee and the cafe owner's harrowing story of fleeing Vietnam by boat to eventually arrive in Sydney. We then ventured through the streets sampling many delicacies, meeting the people and listening to Mel's vast knowledge of the food and culture of the area. What a wonderful way to spend our time! Thanks Mel,for a great tour!!!

The walking food tour around Alburn was so interesting & delicious .
Our group got to meet the local shop owners & chefs & sampled the Turkish cuisine .
My highlight was wondering through the supermarket /deli filling up my trolley with lots of different Turkish products & produce excited about the thought of eating it all with my family that night .

There were many high lights of our ottoman tour...starting with the traditional tea with delicious Turkish custard that we watched being made in an authentic and traditional method. The first hand account of the chefs way into Australia and the challenges she encountered. That was just the beginning of a mouth watering day filled with rich Turkish culture and led by Melissa's stories and well informed explanations. Mel's contacts allowed us to sample and purchase many delicacies. Can't wait to do another Mia Cucina tour with Melissa. Thank you Mel.

The Ottoman tour I did with Mia Cucina to Auburn was simply fabulous, from the first coffee to the scrumptious lunch. The various shopkeepers were so welcoming and generous with their samples. Mel is so knowledgeable and made the day such a fun event.

The trip to Auburn was a great day out and gave us the opportunity to experience delicious and authentic Turkish cuisine. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable about the culture and traditions of the Turks and the important role that food plays in their everyday life. She answered all our questions enthusiastically and showed us where to buy the best this suburb has to offer. We look forward to coming back to sample more of the delicious things available.

The highlight of participating in Mia Cucina's food walking tour of Auburn and experiencing the food and people of Turkey was Melissa Port herself. She is so inspiring, knowledgeable and practical and her love of food and people made the day so memorable and enjoyable. We were privileged to benefit from her hours of research uncovering the secrets of this suburb and the delicacies to be found within it. It was a pure delight and I look forward to the next tour to another culinary region in Sydney!

Mel has an extensive knowledge of the Auburn area. There was so much to see and smell, all my senses were enticed. Especially loved the Kazandibi - what a treat! I would definitely recommend this tour to any of my friends. Thanks so much Mel.

I loved the whole day, but especially the trip to Turkish Delight Heaven. And those pastries were pieces of art. The people were lovely and welcoming, and so proud of their produce. I hope to go back to get more inspiration, especially for our family Christmas feast.

A very big thank you to you for a wonderful outing to Auburn. I very much enjoyed the trip out with my girlfriend (that was a treat in itself) and then your cleverly organised visits to cafes, bakeries, supermarkets and restaurants. So many wonderful things to see and taste! Only sorry I couldn't stay for the lunch, but from all reports it was scrumptious. The family has just had their apple tea in their new apple tea glasses and they enjoyed their semizotu (purslane) salad with garlic/yoghurt/salt dressing! And turkish delight ready to go into the lunch boxes as a treat tomorrow!
Hope you have your feet up now.
And thank you again,

The tour to Cabramatta was a gift from a friend. What a wonderful experience for the two of us to share. I felt like I had travelled to Vietnam and back in a few short hours. Melissa was a enthusiastic tour guide who seemed to have endless knowledge on the culture, cuisine and the shops. I enjoyed it so much that I went back a month later on my own. I can't wait to try another tour with Melissa. If you are looking for a gift for someone who has everything or is difficult to buy for, then please consider a Mia Cucina tour. Better still, treat yourself. Five stars.

The Vietnamese food tour in Cabramatta was sensational. The mix between food and history created a really fun experience. We certainly did not go hungry as we tried such a wide variety of traditional and local delicacies. It was a great authentic way to get a taste of what it's like to live in Vietnam for the day. My tip for first timers, I recommend not to eat breakfast or anything else before the tour. It was all delicious!

I have just taken the Cabramatta Tour and feel like I have come home after a mini overseas trip. The day was so interesting. Apart from tasting Vietnamese dumplings, sweets, foods and spices, I learnt how to shop for Vietnamese ingredients and choose the best rambutan and mangosteen. We stopped at fruit stores, spice shops, sweet stalls. We heard about the local history of the area. We talked recipes and food and sauces. I found the day to be inspiring. I bought lots of ingredients which I have never cooked with and can't wait to try out some of the methods and recipes we discussed.
Thanks Mel I had a great day.

This tour was a really fun way to experience Vietnamese Cabramatta in Sydney. The highlight was the coffee shop where we tried Vietnamese coffee and heard the story of the owner's escape from Vietnam in the late 70's. His story of survival as a real boat person was inspirational. The food we tasted was delicious and Mel really knew her way around ensuring that the tour was engaging, informative and a great way to see a different part of my own city.

Our garden club was looking for something new and different to do for our monthly activity. We loved the Good Morning Vietnam Tour, exploring Cabramatta and eating our way through the alleyways with our guide, Mel. Starting with coffee in a cafe where we had the pleasure of meeting one of the first “boat people” to arrive in Australia and listening to her fascinating story; we then walked the alleyways sampling everything from Vietnamese dumplings to traditional Vietnamese native fruits, purchasing spices, vegetables, fish and sweet treats from the countless markets. We finished our tour with an authentic Vietnamese banquet. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone with a passion for food.

It's hard to find beauty in the hustle of Sydney's CBD midweek filled with rushing cars and businessmen but Mel has another sense that led us into the rich world of Chinatown and the Haymarket, guiding us through all the tastes, smells and traditions of the Chinese culture. We paced the cluttered and open spaces of the area, visiting local witchdoctors, dumpling makers, market stall sellers, all who Mel seemed to have known for years. The back alleyways, usually narrow streets I would just drive though, became alive with Mel's knowledge of the area. I booked the tour because I wanted to see more of Sydney and I couldn't have found a better way to do it. If you're looking for a fun activity, to learn more about a specific culture, this is the perfect opportunity. Thanks again Mel!

Melissa's tour saved the day! 6 blokes and 2 girls roamed the streets of Istanbul, tasting, smelling and appreciating all of Istanbuls finest delicacies that only someone with passion and knowledge could make so fascinating! I travel to Turkey regularly and consider myself a relatively well informed chef. The food tour was incredible. Melissa introduced me to a wide range of new delicacies I have no idea how she had gathered so much intimating but she did. She inspired my senses and my birthday was a great success due to her magical insight. I highly recommend Melissa. Book her and enjoy!!!!

We would love your feedback
